Charlene "Charley" Parker didn't know that her father was a Thanagarian sleeper agent, or that she was half-alien, until the alien chromosomes inside her triggered metagenes to develop in her human DNA. Charley grew wings from her back that allowed her to fly, and developed the power to transform her fingernails into metallic claws as well as the power to generate a sonic scream. When her father attempted to help launch an Thanagarian invasion, Charley used her newfound powers to stop him. Afterwards, Charlie felt it was her duty to use her powers to help people and became the Golden Eagle.
